what would hector say?

I just finished a nine-week course on foundational calligraphy (aka Roman calligraphy), which is more of a traditional calligraphy with a lot of variations. Throughout the course we had several small projects including a card and a quote, but our final project was to create and assemble an accordion book.

I was excited to start the book and immediately knew what my subject would be - the pet bird I grew up with. Anyone who knew Hector knew that he could say just about anything. He was truly a member of the family, and wasn't afraid to speak up and let you know. There were a lot of Hector quotes to choose from, but in the end I decided to go with a censored book (I would have to present it to the class afterall).

I have to say the hardest part of making the book was perfecting the folds. I've been known to rush a few projects out of mere excitement, and this one was no different. I admit, I still need to work on the cover image!

Now that I know the ins and outs of accordion book making, I think I'll create the uncensored version.
